“Stay away from that camp.” they said.

But we didn’t listen.

We lit a fire deep in the woods, just past the broken cabins and rusted signs, where the air still carries the camps' tragic legacy. The flames danced as we passed around marshmallows and ghost stories—some sweet, and others... frightening.

The cold wind wandered past with a sharp breath of eucalyptus and storm-charged ozone, a chill that didn’t belong to the firelight. Sweet sugar and melted marshmallow rose in the air, softening the edge, but beneath it… something heavier. Earthy. Smoky. Patchouli and oak, still damp from the lake. Ashes that never really cooled.

Some say the camp is cursed. That the boy who didn't survive his stay at camp waits beneath the surface—watching. Listening. Coming. Maybe it was just a story...

Maybe... it's not.

We barely made it out alive. Surviving with only the sweet taste of campfire marshmallows on our breath. It's only but another campfire tale, is what the kids say. For us, it will be a moonlit Friday night that hauntingly reminds us to never return to his camp again.
